BJA/ARS Travel Bursaries 2017

Up to 10 travel bursaries of £1,000 each are available to support members of research active departments presenting their work at the joint meeting of the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA)/Anaesthetic Research Society (ARS) Research Forum, with the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA) to be held in Washington DC from 4th - 5th May 2017. This meeting is aligned with the annual IARS congress at the same venue from 6th - 9th May 2017.

Abstracts for poster presentations can be submitted via the AUA website from December 2016, before the closing date of Tuesday 31st January 2017. The AUA website asks you to name a sponsoring AUA member; if you are not a member in this field you should name "AUA Council" as your sponsor.

To apply for a bursary
You will need to be a member of the BJA/ARS Research Forum. If you are not already a member - which is open to all researchers in relevant disciplines at a cost of £30 per year - you can join by contacting Prof Graeme McLeod.

Send a copy of your submitted abstract to Prof Phil Hopkins by Wednesday 1st February 2017, along with the following information:

  • Name of applicant
  • Job title of applicant
  • Research group leader
  • Source of any grant funding for research project/programme

Successful applicants would normally be expected to also present their research at a BJA Research Forum in 2017. These are as follows:
5th - 6th April 2017 - The Royal College of Anaesthetists, London
November 2017 - Leicester (dates to be finalised)
