Conditions & Information

Aim
The grant is intended to help support research of an educational nature that will benefit education in anaesthesia, critical care or pain.

The support
Budget for the round is £10K and applications for up to this amount will be considered but applications for smaller sums would also be welcome. The grant is not intended to pay salaries but may be used to purchase service of a third party e.g. to carry out interviews or secretarial support for transcription of interview material.

The grant may be used to purchase items of equipment. In this case the equipment will remain the property of SEA UK and be considered to be on loan. This will allow such equipment to be used by other researchers as appropriate.

The grant is not intended to fund registration fees for higher degrees.

Report
The applicant will be required to submit an interim account of the progress and results of the research when the project is concluded, and no more than 2 years after payment of the award has been made.

How to apply

  1. Complete the application form
  2. Use sheets of plain A4 paper to provide the following information. Head each page with the applicant's name and page number (starting with Page 2).
    1. A description of the research project in 1500 to 2000 words using 12pt Times Roman font. Use the following headings:

        Title
        Aims including a description of how your study will benefit education in anaesthesia, critical care or pain.
        Background
        Experimental design and methods including statistical considerations and power analysis where appropriate
        References

    2. A list of the resources which will be required and which will be provided by the Host Institution. Use the following headings:

        Equipment
        Laboratory space (if relevant)
        Estimated running costs
        Ethics committee approval (if relevant)
        Any resources still to be obtained and not yet funded

    3. Justification for support requested.
    4. Brief CV of the Applicant

  3. Ensure that the appropriate financial administrative officer of the Host Institution has signed the confirmation section of the application form.
