Aim

The grants are intended to support internationally collaborative research projects in Anaesthesia, Critical Care or Pain Management between BJA/RCoA and CAI and may be for salaries or for the purchase of items of equipment.
We will not consider specific PhD studentships in this grants category - please see here for details of studentships available in this round.


Eligibility and The Project

Applicants should be from both Eire and Great Britain & Northern Ireland. The proposal must involve real, credible, collaboration and one institution will take the lead; the institution to which the funding is given; it will be the responsibility of that institution to negotiate with their partner on the transfer of funds. The work may be done in a university science department or in an academic clinical department. The work may be basic (wet lab, in vivo or equipment) or clinical in nature. Pilot/feasibility studies are welcome. If there are specific questions then

The Support

€100K (~£89.5k) per grant is available with 50:50 contribution from BJA/RCoA and CAI. This support is for salaries (including Superannuation and National Insurance (or equivalent) contributions, equipment (including VAT where appropriate) and running costs. BJA/RCoA and CAI decline to contribute to any other indirect costs (overheads). Applicants will need to provide full justification of all costs applied for. Applications requesting less than the stated amounts are welcome. The funders will wish to share any intellectual property rights and income arising from this work with the host institution.
