Travel Grants and IRC Funding
The International Relations Committee (IRC) of the AAGBI Foundation considers applications to fund projects usually, but not exclusively, in lower resourced countries. There are four categories of grants:

  • Travel Grants for Individuals
  • Project Grants
  • Volunteer and Out of Programme Experience Grants
  • SAFE Project Grants

The next IRC meeting applicants can submit a grant application to will be held in June 2019. The submission period is currently open to applications for travel taking place between 26 July 2019 and 26 October 2019. The deadline for these applications is 21 May 2019.

Please note applications are not considered retrospectively, so applications must be made in advance of travel so that a decision can be taken at the next available committee meeting.

Wylie Medal Undergraduate Prize
Details for the 2020 Wylie Medal Undergraduate Prize will be announced at a later date. Details of the 2019 prize winner are below:

Congratulations to Mr Oliver Wright, winner of the 2019 Wylie Medal. Mr Wright's essay Environmental sustainability: opportunity or cost for anaesthesia? will appear in a future issue of Anaesthesia News, and he will receive his prize and medal at a future Association Board meeting..

Undergraduate Elective Funding
Applications are invited from medical students studying in Great Britain and Ireland (subject to confirmation of eligibility) to apply to the AAGBI Foundation for funding towards a medical student elective period taking place between October 2019 and March 2020. Overseas students should ensure that they are permitted to apply for charitable funding.
